On a day that everything went wrong for Maamobi-Nima, host Legon continued their impressive form to beat their counterpart to qualify for the grand finale of season- of Community Dunks at the ultra modern indoor basketball facility at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Thursday afternoon.
With the presence of head coach Emmanuel Wobil, Legon put up a matchless display on the court with team spirit and chemistry at it epoch level to triumph by an emphatic 52-34 success over their opponent.
The victory of Legon came on the heels of the unavailability of power forward Edem Quist who has left for school ahead of the resumption of the academic calendar.
But the absence Mfantsipim student was highly unnoticed as Paa Kwesi, Wolf and Bright Tengey took the mantle and showcased sublime piece of skills and character to kill off the challenge of Abeiku Solomon’s charges.
Maamobi –Nima will leave to rue the lost opportunity following their lackluster performance on the ultra modern court.
Paa Kwesi was ¾ from the three point range and emerged as the toast of fans with some delectable performance. He was the pillar around which the team evolved and anytime he who was taken off in the course of the game; it was obvious he was the key man for the side.
The Maamobi –Nima side looked out of sort and their display on Thursday was quite shocking judging from their performance in previous meetings against Teshie-Nungua, Ashaiman and finally their famous victory over defending champions Cantonment on Saturday at the University of Ghana basketball court.
Their ego have been deflated and Coach Abeiku Solomon and his young players will look back to rue the lost chance as they all the possibility to triumph on the day.
Legon looked much more determined and everything went right for the host side who were playing home away from home at the ultra modern indoor basketball court against Maamobi-Nima on Thursday.
Teshie-Nungua and high flying Kaneshie play in the second semi-final game at the same venue to determine who battle Legon in the grand finale on Saturday October 2 at the University of Ghana basketball court.
