Maamobi-Nima manager, Abeiku Solomon, is keen to go a step further after guiding his side to dump champions Cantonment out of the running to make a second successive semi-final appearance in season-2 of Community Dunks.
Solomon’s charges were in fine form over the weekend at the basketball court of Ghana’s Premier University silencing critics to record a famous victory over Coach Daniel Sowah’s young squad.
Maamobi-Nima now have host Legon to tackle on Saturday October 2 at the same venue with his eyes firmly fixed on a place to play in their debut grand finale.
But that dream won’t be achieved on a silver platter as they battle a side that were in great shape against last year’s bridesmaid Ridge triumphing 30-18 under bizarre circumstances.
The ‘soft spoken’ coach is relishing the prospect of playing in the grand finale of the biggest basketball championship among communities in the Greater Accra region and is looking forward for a warmth moment with opposite number David Bamfo Agyemang.
‘This is one fixture I’m really looking forward to because both Dave and myself have so many things in common and it will be great to see how we both do on the court on Saturday’.
‘I’ve lot of respect for the team and the victory over Ridge showed how strong they’re and they won’t be overawed by the occasion at all. We have to meet them with determination and I’m hoping my players get their spot on’.
He added: We’ve been very strong defensively in our previous games and that has helped us a lot. We know Legon will be a difficult nut to crack but we’ll do our best to make the final grade’.
