With Kaneshie’s qualification done and dusted, three more communities will slug it out for the sole right to join Sam Tagoe’s young charges at the semi-final stage on Saturday.
The University of Ghana basketball court will explode into excitement and anticipation as host Legon, Ridge and James Town fight for the single ticket available in the group to play in the knockout phase.
Legon and Ridge meet in perhaps the most difficult game on Saturday as the winner of the tie will automatically join Kaneshie in the semi-final stage and that has place a lot at stake for both teams.
What makes the encounter intriguing and more compelling is the fact that it pits the strength of two of the finest sides in the competition and more importantly put the technical acumen of veteran Coach Braimah Lawah and his younger counterpart David Bamfoe Addo on the table.
There won’t be room for slips since that could cause one of the sides in Saturday’s showdown.
Semi-finalist Kaneshie tackle less fancied and whipping boys James Town in the other fixture of the group and it would almost be safe to say they might end the group phase winless if Sam Tagoe’s young players continue to play with such power play and team chemistry.
This is a situation last year’s bridesmaid Ridge didn’t expect to be in especially after a roller coaster run last year and the fact that they’ve got almost 80 percent of players who featured in the maiden edition still available for selection. They will leave to rue the lost opportunity against Kaneshie in the opening fixture if they fail to negotiate their semi-final ticket on Saturday.
Fixtures for Saturday September 25, 2010
