Coach Abeiku Solomon has set an audacious target of winning the championship despite his side’s opening day defeat in season-2 of Community Dunks.
Re-christened Maamobi CYCC (formerly Nima) were beaten by Ashaiman in the third match of competition at the University of Ghana basketball court.
It was a close contest by Ralph Ahadzi’s youngsters triumphed by a only two points-winning 35-33 in arguably the best game of day one on Saturday.
Solomon is refusing to be shell-shocked and reckons they will fight back strongly to stake a claim for the title despite the setback.
‘We lost and so what? he asked sarcastically. It part of the game and sometimes it’s good it happens this way it can put you in check and make you know that your beatable after all’. Solomon said.
‘The defeat was a wake-up call for the players and we’re taking it in good stride and we’ll come back a better and stronger team. There are some few areas we need to tackle and that’s what we hope to do in the next couple of days before our next game on Saturday.
Next on the agenda for Maamobi CYCC is against giant killers Teshie Nungua in the first game on Saturday September 18 (15hrs GMT)
