It might be early days yet, but the performance of new entrant Teshie –Nungua in the opening day of season-2 of Community Dunks has raised their stock in the competition and they’re now regarded as the team to watch.
The young ballers showed tremendous firepower and skills on the court that caught the attention and admiration of the sizeable crowd. They played with so much vision and determination and the team spirit and chemistry displayed on Saturday has certainly made them one of the title contenders.
They displayed sheer bravado and their famous victory over the defending champions Cantonment has enhanced their pedigree.
The subsequent matches in the group stages will be very crucial. Because that will determine whether they’re genuine title contenders or their victory over Coach Daniel Sowah’s charges was a ‘flash in the pan’ performance.
But one thing is for sure though. They’ve got a solid side that play effectively like a combined unit fighting with a winning mentality. And the next couple of weeks will be one interesting for these young players who’re determined to hold the flag of their community aloft and be heroes.
After delivering his first victory against all odds, Ex-WO 1 Joseph Ayizangah can’t call himself an underdog. He now has enormous responsibility on his shoulders to spearhead the title challenge of the unsung side.
While Teshie-Nungua were far from favourites at the start of the tournament, their shooting and speed powered them to the championship with an unstoppable performance
Community Dunks is an initiative of Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Indomie with support from 90 Minutes Newspaper and Metro TV.
