Former point guard for Dansoman, Paa Kwesi Awuah, is disappointed with the withdrawal of his side from this year’s Community Dunks.

Dansoman pulled the breaks on the 2010 edition of the competition citing their inability to raise a team that fall under the age category.

The side placed a respectable third position last year and many fans were expecting them to come out stronger this year.

But their withdrawal came as a shock to many pundits and crazy basketball fans- especially at a time when many communities in the Greater Accra region were jostling to grab a place in the final eight.

Awuah who was the pivot around which the team evolved last year is saddened by the latest setback.

‘I m terribly disappointed by the turn of event and unfortunate a great team like Dansoman which has so many basketball talents will be missing out this year’. Awuah told basketballghana.com

‘The managers have offered their reasons but I’m just sad our younger brothers in Dansoman will not have such a unique platform to exhibit their talents. We hope to bounce back next year and be counted among the best’.

Awuah currently play for the University of Ghana basketball team

Community Dunks 2010 is an initiate of Rite Multimedia with support from Indomie Noodles and begins from Saturday September 11, 2010 (and every other Saturday from 3-8pm) at the University of Ghana basketball court.
