The first ever basketball awards night will be held next year, according to the Chief Executive Officer of Rite Multimedia, Yaw Sakyi Afari.

The young entrepreneur revealed this during the historic screening exercise of players for the impending U-18 basketball championship dubbed Community Dunks at the University of Ghana basketball court.  

According to him plans are far advance to honour players, officials and other personalities who have contributed immensely to the development and promotions of the game in the West African country.

 ‘This is the first time you’re hearing this but we making frantic effort to organize the first ever basketball awards night in Ghana next year’.

‘It will be a major landmark in the history of the game in Ghana and an opportunity for all stakeholders including players, officials and managers to be rewarded for the immense contribution to the development of the game’.

Teams and officials that will excel in the upcoming Community Dunks and the 2010 edition of the Sprite Ball Championship will be rewarded during the awards night scheduled for 2011.
