It may well be described as the game fit for the gods as defending champions CEPS and Tema Youth clash in the finals of the 2010 edition of the Thome Cabalan Championship in the men’s division on Friday.

The Tema based side are battling their demotion to D2 following their late arrival for a league game against Hoops on the final day of the series last month. But that will not be on the agenda when they tackle favourite CEPS in the men’s finals.

Coach Emmanuel Quarshie affectionately called rubber man is expected to inspire confidence in his charges as they attempt what many have been unable to do for the past decade- that is to beat CEPS to the title they won in 2008.

That will undoubtedly be a huge mountain for Youth to climb but in a competition which has seen major upsets that possibility cannot be ruled out.

But let face reality and admit that this will be just one of the games for CEPS. They put on the gear anytime they’re face with stiff opposition and have been unofficially been crowned champions by fans even before jump ball.

What awaits on Friday afternoon will be a game of class coupled with the determination to maintain the status quo or cause a major upset in the tournament rich history.

For a side that still shines when start shooting guard Dodzie fumbles on a bad day, it will take more than a miracle for Tema Youth to unseat the defending champions.

It’s almost certain CEPS will add another silverware to their rich trophy cabinet and win the cash prizes at stake.

It has been a thrilling memorial tournament for the past ten days and what fans pray for is an incredible end to an exciting competition.
