CEPS extended their unbeaten streak in the Greater Accra basketball series with a comprehensive 93-43 victory over CYO on Wednesday.
The 9-time champions underlined their title credential with a swash buckling performance and now make them the clear favourite to clinch their tenth consecutive title.
Coach Braimah Lawah’s side simply looked the side to beat after they took a commanding 29-6 lead in the first quarter before a 20-10 lead in the second quarter put them in the driving seat.
They rounded up their impressive display at the Prison’s Court in Cantonment with another 20-15 win in the penultimate quarter before completing the rout with a 30-12 win in the final quarter.
The side has now move three points clear at the summit of the table as the league gradually reaches home stretch.
Basement boys Yotive suffered their twelve defeat of the current campaign after a sorry 37- 46 crush to Fire Service in the second game on Wednesday.
Yotive took the initiate in the first quarter with a narrow 9-7 win but allowed their opponent to claw back in the second quarter to peg them at 11-9.
Lack of concentration in the third quarter saw Fire take the better part of an exciting free flowing basketball game to take a commanding 21-3 lead and despite Yotive’s comeback in the final quarter, it was too little too late for the bottom based club.
Yotive are battling with the relegation dog-fight and now needs a miracle to survive in the top flight league.
The action in the men’s division continues on Friday with some exciting pairings.
