This year’s Milo Ghana University Sport Association (GUSA) basketball tournament takes centre stage at the main basketball court of the University of Ghana with six elite schools vying for the ultimate title.

The competition will swing into full action on Saturday June 5 with four exciting fixtures.

Ghana’s premier University, the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, University of Development Studies, University of Education, UEW (Winneba), University of Mines (Tarkwa) and the University of Cape Coast will battle for honours in the one –week tourney.

UEW comes into the tournament as the huge favourite following their heroic achievement last year and their stable feat in the West African University basketball competition.

They beat UG in last year’s finals as both represented the country in the sub-regional competition.

The battle lines have being drawn and the quest to unseat UEW is on. The University of Ghana basketball team will rely on the prospect of point guard Kelvin who has shown so much improvement since he guided Legon Hall to clinch silver in the second edition of the Legon Dunks in March.

He currently plays for Sakumono based Panthers in the ongoing Greater Accra basketball league.

The games are expected to be keenly contested and the coming days will underline the title credentials of all participation schools and also earn the right to represent the West African country in the West African basketball games later in the year.
