With the clock ticking for the 2010 Milo Junior Ball competition, the men who issue instructions from the baseline are beginning to talk tough ahead of the big showdown at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.
The latest to add to the twist and turn is young and enterprising coach Feranni Maja Olunloyo of the Alpha Beta School, who has launched an audacious bid to reclaim the title from champions Great Lamptey Mills on the 20th of March, 2010.
Coach Olunloyo is already the toast of basketball fans at Dansoman and its environs after he guided the side to grab bronze in the highly patronized community dunks at the El-wak stadium last year.
His tactical and technical approach to the game won the hearts and respect of many pundits and crazy basketball fans who thronged the venue on weekly basis to catch the glimpse of an exciting and unprecedented community basketball league in the West African country.
He is expected to bring his rich vein of experience to bear when he marshal the junior ballers of the Alpha Beta school to do honours at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in ten days time.
The youthful side of the Dansoman based side has been undergoing some serious training session under the tutelage of the coach who claims his charges are ready for the challenge.
He told basketballghana.com: ‘We have been training very hard and the young players are in good condition for the tournament’
‘We are very happy with the way our preparations are going so far and we have everything under control.’
‘ We wil be strong on the 20th of March at the El-Wak stadium where I have a lot of fond memories after we helped the Dansoman basketball team to place third in the community dunks last year.
He added: ‘It will be great to win another silverware at the same venue with these relative young and talented players. The catch them young syndrome is good and it is fantastic we are nurturing them at this young stage.’
