Season –two of the high-status basketball competition amongst the halls of Ghana’s premier university dubbed Legon Dunks takes centre stage on March 18, 2010.
The main basketball court of the University of Ghana will be buzzing with high level of basketball and scintillating action when the four traditional halls and three hostels slug it out for the ultimate title as Legon Hall celebrates its 58th anniversary this year.
Last year’s event at the same venue produced fireworks and amazing results that left the thousands of crazy basketball fans who thronged the venue wanting for more.
Defending champions Legon Hall is poised to retain the title they won on March 25, 2009 following their back-to-back victories over highly fancied Commonwealth Hall (Vandals).
The various halls have intensfied preparations for the one-day tournament with their respective coaches trimming the rough edges ahead of the big showdown which is expected to attract thousands of fans to the venue eager to support their various halls.
Akuafo Hall, Legon Hall, Commonwealth Hall, Evandy, Bani and International Student hostels are the participating halls that have vowed to unseat Legon Hall at this year’s event.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the organisation of this year’s tournament after last year’s event earned rave reviews on campus and the nation at large. It was tagged as an unprecedented basketball event in the annals of the institution where the players exhibited great sublime piece of skills, stamina, agility and speed coupled with passion, glitz and glamour to make the date an unforgetable one.
The competition will also offer the platform for revenge, dominace and first time meetings between the various halls as expectations reaches fever pitch.
