Ghanaian hiplife sensation Abdul Hamid Ibrahim (Lazzy) of VIP fame, has been recounting his glorious days with the famous Nima Flames – in a revelation that is set to kick in the teeth of crazy basketball fans in Ghana.
The talented musician was a key member of the basketball side from Nima that won the hearts and captured the imaginations of fans some 20 years ago before he ventured into music.
Lazzy doubled as a Point Guard and a Small Forward for the densely populated side in Accra and lived up to expectations with some blistering speed and sublime piece of skills in a basketball career that saw him help the side win many laurels.
The multi award winning artiste told basketballghana: ‘It is exciting to be standing here right now and look back at how I played for the Nima flames some years ago.’
‘It is a really great feeling and I think the game remains very dear to my heart.’
‘I have seen what the game has done for a lot of people in Nima but unfortunately everything went down a bit. Thank God to Yaw and Rite Multimedia who have started to bring the game to the people once again and that alone makes me feel tempted to get back to the court.’
He also did not rule out the possibility of staging a come back onto the court.
‘You never know ! because I think I will come back to the court sooner rather than later.’
It is a great game and when you feel part of it, you can’t get out. It like glue and anybody who has played basketball will tell you the same.’ he added.
