The days are springing fast for the 2009 Sprite Ball Championship and the expectations and jitters of fans in the Eastern region has hit fever pitch.
The first train in the regional championship for the year under review will hit the Eastern Region in the next 11 days at the Koforidua Secondary Technical School and talks of a major kick in the teeth and new dimensions has captured the imaginations and thoughts of thousands of student from over 30 schools who are expected to participate in the tournament on October 17.
Defending Eastern Regional champions in the male category, Suhum Secondary Technical School (Sutesco) have stepped up preparations to defend the trophy they won last year and have reportedly been involved in series in low-profile matches ahead of cagey fixtures.
But they will face stiff opposition from Pope John’s Senior High (Pojoss), Ofori Panyin Senior High (Opass), Abuakwa State College (Abusco), Akosombo International School (AIS) amongst others.
The female team of Akosombo International School who dazzled and sparkled to win the female category at the same venue last term will have to dig deep into the artistry if they are to maintain the status quo.
They will come up against a much improved and rejuvenated sides from Oda Senior High (Odasco) and Mamfe Senior High.
