The President of the Ghana Basketball Association, David Addo-Ashong, has praised the level of play and competition at the recently concluded maiden U-18 Basketball competition at the El – Wak Stadium.
Ashong says he was impressed with the high level of competition among the ten communities over the 13-week period.
He also indicated the association’s keenness in supporting Rite Multimedia to continue with their push to promote the game nationwide.
The tournament which spanned over a period of three months attracted the crème de la crème of Ghana Sports and thousands of fans to the El-Wak stadium every Friday.
The country’s basketball supremo told basketballghana’ what I have seen here over the past weeks is pure talents and genuine desire of this young players to get to the top.’
‘I am more than convinced that it will be only a matter of time before the country will be able to assemble a formidable squad capable of competing at the African championships.’
‘We cannot say how appreciate we are as an association for this wonderful initiative by Rite Multimedia and we believe a concerted effort by both parties can take our game to the highest level where we can compete with the likes of Angola, Nigeria, Libya and the rest of the African continent’
