Coach of Ridge Braimah Lawal says he has no regrets after his side lost the finals of the maiden U-18 Basketball Competition against Cantonments.
Ridge lost 52-44 in the final game against their opponents in a game which attracted the top brass at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the National Sports Council and thousands of spectators at the El-Wak stadium on Friday September 4.
Ridge was hoping to win the finals after a sterling performance against Dansoman at the semi – final stage but crumbled under expectations as their rivals run riot.
Lawal admits his players were nervous during the game as the occasion got to them.
He however says his players will take stock in the competition with pride.
‘I am naturally disappointed that we lost the final game but am not sorry at all because sometimes these things happen in a game.’ Braimah told basketballghana
‘We played well in the early stages but my players lost ball too often and provided Cantonments with the opportunity to always counter attack us and that affected their confidence.’
‘But I guess they are not happy but disappointed. We were ten communities who started the competition and so if you place second, then obviously you haven’t done badly at all right? ‘
We will bounce back greatly next year and I believe that the experience that the players have gotten here, next year we hope to go a step further.’
