Dansoman placated their suffering fans by beating Kaneshie to grab the bronze medal in the maiden U-18 basketball tournament at the El-Wak Stadium on Friday September 4.
Coach Ferrani Olulonyo’s charges were superb on the day and showed great basketball artistry to render the challenge of Kaneshie meaningless triumphing 31-29 in a close contest.
The game was highly charged with both communities displaying sublime piece of skills and adroitness and it was evident that Dansoman had learnt their lessons from their semi-final blip against Ridge.
Dansoman started brightly with point guard and star player Paa Kwesi Awuah showing why he emerged as one of the brightest spot at the 13-week long tournament.
He carried the team on his shoulders grabbing 15 field goals in the match to underline his credentials as one of the best players in the tournament.
It was an intense battle in the centre circle particularly throughout the duration of the game and with only some few seconds left, Dansoman snatched a late victory via a crucial late two pointer after the game was tied at 29-29.
Kaneshie took consolation in the fact that Nii Lantei Blankson proved beyond all reasonable doubt that he is one player certainly made for the future.
Community Dunks was an initiative of Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Sprite and Indomie with support from DDP Outdoor Ltd, Western Publication, Silicon House Production, Y FM, TV Africa, Ghana’s World News Paper and 90 minutes; the official News Paper for the tournament.
