Coach of Kaneshie Sam Tagoe is ruing the lost opportunity after Cantonments pip them to the final ticket in the maiden U-18 Basketball competition at the El-Wak Stadium.
He reckons his side was unlucky in their game against their opponents and attributed their defeat to weariness.
He however remains adamants and says his charges will bounce back in great style in the next edition of the tournament.
Kaneshie were tagged as the pre-tournament favourites but failed to live up to their pre-match hype. They lost two matches in the second classification and only managed to qualify for the semi-finals via the superior goal difference against Tema.
But they put up a solid performance in their semi-final game against Cantonments but lack of concentration in the third and final quarter allowed their opponents to pull victory under their feet.
Sam Tagoe told Basketballghana.”We played well again but as you can see my players looked tired and also lost concentration in the final stages of the game”.
‘We dominated and controlled the ball well and if we had continued we will have won the game hands down.’
‘But we still have a chance against Dansoman for a third place spot and am hoping we can placate our fans for our inability to make to the finals.’
Community Dunks is an initiative of Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Sprite and Indomie with support from DDP Outdoor Ltd, Western Publication, Silicon House Production, Y FM, TV Africa, Ghana’s World News Paper and 90 minutes; the official News Paper for the tournament.
I think some of the coaches complain unnecessarily. The best way to win a game is to focus on your tactics and players and not the referees . Anyway, Community Dunks is a wonderful initiative and two thumbs up to Rite Multimedia! The coaches must be encouraged to develop younger players and stop using the same players for all competitions. If it’s possible, the organizers should organize courses for the referees.
I DONT AGREE WITH GASU BECAUSE IF THE REFEREE DECIDE TO GO AGAINST U ,THERE IS NO WAY THAT U CAN CONCENTRATE ON THE GAME FOR U WLL BE PLAYING 5 ON 7. HOW DO U WIN SUCH A MATCH ? AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WE EXPECT OUR LEARNED AND MOST POWERFUL FRIENDS TO BE NEUTRAL IN OFFICIATING.
I AGREE WITH THE IDEA OF ORGANISING FRESH COURSES FOR THE OFFICIALS. THANKS
