Coach of Dansoman Ferrani Maja Olulonyo is convinced his players will take stock in the maiden U-18 Basketball competition with pride after they lost to Ridge at the semi-final stage of the competition.

The young coach remains upbeat about the prospect of his side and insists the sky will be the limit for them in future tournaments.

Ridge produced a shocking display to crash their opponent throwing their pre-tournament favourite tag into tatters.

Many pundits and connoisseurs of the game were made to rewrite their books after Coach Braimah Lawah guided his side to a famous victory over Dansoman and in the process booked a date with Cantonments for the final game on Friday September 4th.

But despite their inability to qualify for the finals of the 2009 community Dunks, Coach Ferrani reckons his players have shown maturity and ability to go skyrocketing.

‘They played well but lack was simply not on our side and that is why we lost.’ Ferrani told Basketballghana.

‘It happens sometimes in the game and even though everybody here expected us to win, it didn’t go down well today and am still positive my boys have shown that they can go places. ‘

‘Like you have seen over the past eleven weeks or so, we were unbeaten in the second classification and so it was normal that our fans had so much hope in us and we disappointed them.

‘But they will bounce back in a grand style in subsequent tournaments and become great stars for the country.

Dansoman will battle Kaneshie for a third place finish in the opening game on Friday September 4th at the El-Wak Stadium.

Community Dunks is an initiative of Rite Multimedia and sponsored by Sprite and Indomie with support from DDP Outdoor Ltd, Western Publication, Silicon House Production, Y FM, TV Africa, Ghana’s World News Paper and 90 minutes; the official News Paper for the tournament.
