The fever of Community dunks, the under 18 basketball tourney is truely catching up with the greatest of passion. Last friday at the El-Wak Sports Stadium, the clash between NIMA and LEGON brought the Eastern part of Accra to a standstill. NIMA who were pre-match favourites considering the calibre of players in their team experienced a match of their life time when the twinkle little stars from LEGON showed class in their play. Clumps of spectators were trilled to see LEGON exhibit dynamism in their game. In the end LEGON outclassed their contenders from NIMA to triumph 32-30.
Another keenly contested match was the game between TEMA and RIDGE. The boys from TEMA displayed great basketball artistry but were silence by the tactics and strategy of the RIDGE team when their head coach Alhaji Lawal braimah declared ”war” on the court. The RIDGE boys rose to the occassion, fired a couple of three pointers, energetic lay ups and quick rebounds to deny their counterparts a sweet victory. The fiercely contested game ended 40-38 in favour of RIDGE.
The last game of the day witnessed a fierce battle between ASHAIMAN and KANESHIE. Ashaiman’s attempt to make history and become the first community to nail KANESHIE ended in a failure when Kaneshie showed real stamina to record a massive win over their counterparts, 34-17.
