Tamale Senior High School will feature in next year’s Sprite Ball Championship in Accra.
Popularly known as “TAMASCO”, the school confirmed its male basketball team’s participation at the championship which is set to take place between January 5-9, 2016 at El-Wak Stadium.
The Sprite Ball championship will have 16 and 10 schools compete in boys’ and girls’ divisions respectively in its ninth edition come next year. The competition is widely regarded as the biggest and best organized basketball in Ghana and the west African sub region.
The school’s authorities made the announcement when contacted by basketballghana.com. This puts to bed lingering concerns about the continous absence of schools from the region in the competition and most importantly the development of the game in Ghana’s northern territories.
TAMASCO has been synonymous with basketball particularly Sprite Ball ever since the institution wascrowned regional champions in 2010 after the competition was extended to the Northern Region.
Regarded as the “Northern Light”, TAMASCO will hope to shine brightest at the tournament come next year.
The Sprite Ball Championship is an inter-High Schools basketball tournament in Ghana that seeks to unearth talents and develop existing ones amongst High Schools in Ghana.
