History beckons as four schools vie for the ultimate diadem at the final showpiece of the 2010 Milo Junior Ball Championship on Saturday.
Highly fancied Great Lamptey Mills, Garrison School, Hoops Care International and Ghana Lebanon Islamic School are in with a shout of rewriting their names in gold plate.
The four schools will square off at the semi-final stage at the citadel of basketball in Ghana, the El-Wak stadium, as they eye the top most prize.
Burma camp based Garrison basic will likely have the largest contingent of vocal fans this weekend but their resolve to win the title in their debut season will be put to stern test by Great Lamptey Mills.
The defending champions will be eager to tighten their grip on the title they won three years ago at the Aviation Social Centre.
Coach Andrew Ansah will also be keen to ensure his charges do not end what has been a remarkable run with a hobble to the finish line. They appeared the most dangerous side in the competition last week showing tremendous skills and firepower to beat their opponent quite easily.
But their meeting with Garrison will provide the litmus test they need to test their capability and ability to triumph at this year’s Junior Ball for the second time in a row.
Raymond Maha is the coach of Garrison and he is familiar with the terrain after guiding the Cantonment side to clinch the maiden edition of Community Dunks last year. His side looked out of sort in their opening game but fought back strongly to beat neighbours Airforce at the semi-final stage to set up the clash with the champions.
As coach Andrew Ansah and Raymond Maha plot strategies that will outwit each other on Saturday, Cape Coast based Hoops Care International will slug it out with Accra based Ghana Lebanon Islamic School in the second semi-final clash at the El-Wak stadium.
The battle line has being drawn and tomorrow will finally underline the title credential of all teams involved in the action.
