Business Category Manager Beverages, Nestle- Central and West Africa, Samuel Osafo, has charged young and talented players in the country to be discipline and study conscious as they pursue their basketball dream.

Speaking at the Eastern regional 2011 Milo Junior Ball Championship at Koforidua last Friday, the affable and ever-smiling boss of Nestle was optimistic that was only way they can realize their potential.

Over ten basic schools drawn from the region participated in the prestigious championship that took place at the main basketball court of the Koforidua Secondary Technical School (K.S.T.S) for the first time.

Hundreds of enthusiastic kids were there in numbers as the chanted and sang to support their respective teams. It was a great specter to watch as Anglican Junior High School reigned supreme on the day by beating their entire opponents to be crowned maiden champions.

They produced a five-star performance to beat rivals Roman Catholic Junior High School in a goal shy 5-4 while Pentecost also piped St Dominic to the third place.

Morning Glory Preparatory and JHS also went home smiling by winning the hugely and closely contested choreography competition. Holy Hill came second while KOVOC bagged the bronze.

Osafo reckoned he was thrilled with the performance of the teams and says they can achieve their full potential and become worthy ambassadors if they adhere to the principle of discipline.

‘What I have seen here today is very encouraging and I will urge all of you to take your studies seriously as you play basketball alongside. You can only become true champions if you continue to build on such performance’. Osafo said.

‘I want to congratulate Anglican JHS for winning the championship in this region and remind them there is more at stake when they travel to Accra for the grand finale. It’s important you take in Milo everyday as that will help you to release energy at the optimum level’.

He added: ‘When you’re able to win the grand finale where you will play against some of the finest and cracked sides at the basic level, then you’ll become true champions which Milo stands for’.

The 2011 Milo Junior Ball Championship is brought to you by Nestle Milo – the energy food drink of future champions.
