TamaleTamale Senior High School male basketball team have withdrawn from the 2016 Sprite Ball finals due to internal challenges.

Tamasco was initially billed to stage a return to the competition after a four-year absence.
But authorities have pulled the plugs on their involvement due to pressing internal challenges.

Organizers have confirmed receiving official notification for their late withdrawal.

“We can confirm that Tamale Senior High have pulled out due to some internal challenges,” Coordinator of Rite Sports Patrick Akoto told BASKETBALLghana.com

“We were hoping to see them again but sometimes these things happened.

“Nevertheless the event goes ahead as planned and I believe we’re going to have an explosive time at the El-Wak stadium.”

Sprite Ball, the Rite Sports organized event, is the biggest basketball competition in Ghana and of the best organized basketball events in the West African sub-region.

The 2016 event will be the ninth edition and will take place between January 3-7 at the El-Wak Stadium in Accra.
Since its inception in 2007, Sprite Ball has unearthed and developed basketball talents in Ghana who have gone on to feature for professional teams locally and internationally.

As part of organizers intent on spreading the game of basketball to all of Ghana’s ten regions, Tamale was given a special invitation to participate in next year’s tournament as the sole representative of the Northern Region which they initially accepted.

BASKETBALLghana.com understands a new team will replace the North region-based school
